What rocks are safe for waterfall if the animals will be drinking from it?
Hi I posted a question like this yesterday but am asking again. I have sugar gliders (they are not fish) but my answers were made as if they were. So I wanted to know if I can use rocks and gravel from my yard if its washed first or if I need to buy special stones from a pet shop for fish (again sugar gliders are not fish) I have a waterfall in the cage I have they will be drinking from.
Sugar glider not eating? Are they gender specific?
I bought a baby sugar glider yesterday. I’ve been holding her constantly except when I went to bed and she’s doing pretty well I think- she’s already jumping back to me when I set her down. I’ve been offering her food- carrots and corn so far, but she won’t touch them. I left some in her cage last night when she was active but shes still didn’t touch any. Is there any food they love I can try to start her off on?
Also, she doesn’t mind when girls hold her, but she bites and starts crabbing if men hold her- are some gliders gender specific?
Natz- i wasn’t planning on keeping her diet like this. I’ve researched what they can eat and carrots and corn is acceptable. I’m wondering what would be good to start her off on.
Abused Baby Sugar Glider, need glider knowledgable people to help?
I bought a little girl yesterday morning (easter). The man I bought her from told me that she had bitten him and she went “flying across the room”. They have only had her 3 weeks, and she is a wild biter, I have many many punctures on my hands where I tried holding her yesterday. I do have two other gliders already and they are both very sweet. I have put this new girl in with them (I know I should have quarantined her, but I didnt, she really needed the companionship of other gliders). After keeping her in my bonding pouch all day and handling her numerous times througout the day she seems to have settled down a little, but does anyone have any suggestions for the long haul? She has a long way to go, and I’ve never had to try to recondition an abused baby before. She is only about 12 weeks old.
I do have experience with several gliders, and even with working with biters that havent been handled much. But never before with one that has had negative handling.
Please keep reading..
Also, when I got this little girl, she was in a TINY bird cage, no toys, only a wash cloth to hide/sleep in and they were feeding her hamster/gerbil food. When looking at her face, it almost seems like the area around one of her eyes may be a little swollen, I hope not from an impact of any type. Makes me mad that people can treat these babies like this. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
One more thing about this little girl, she doesnt have a tail. I was told that she didnt have a tail when they bought her, and it doesnt look like it was a recent thing, so I’m assuming that it was done when she was very young if she was born with a tail at all.
Has anyone tried raising a glider without a tail, and will it cause any long term issues for her? Especially concerned with her balance?
is there anyway to cure baby sugar glider cataracts?
Yesterday i saw my baby glider Mira had white spots in her eyes, which must have occured yesterday or the day before. I soon found out it was cataracts (thanks to helpful yahoo users) and is there anyway at all to save this poor gliders sight?!?!?!
Does anyone know anything about sugar gliders?
I saw some yesterday, and they are really cute. Are they hard to take care of?
