Need info on raising a sugar glider…?

I’m thinking about buying either one or a pair of sugar gliders. I know a little from research on the net but really wanted owner feedback. What do you think are the most important things I should know about owning these adorable animals before I buy one or a pair?

Type Of Pet?

Does anyone know a pet which i can have that is furry, cuddly and loves bonding with its owner and that doesnt poop and pee everywhere. Please don’t say ferret or hedgehog or sugar glider because they are not legal in california plus a pet that does not need a huge cage and not that expensive.

Sugar glider Illinois/Wisconsin area?

For years now I’ve wanted a sugar glider but at the time i didn’t have enough $. Well my luck changed after I saved a little money and found a owner close by. She had a boy and a little female. The people were different but I didn’t care because I fell in love with the little girl. Well anyways I got her. The first night I set up the cage and let her get used to her environment.I thought it was the beginning of a long happy relationship. I was feeding her zoo keepers secret and fruit and rep-cal supplement and everything was going perfect. Then this past Saturday she died.It was one of the worst days.I loved the little animal so very much. The vet said she was sick WAY before I got her. So I want to try this mission again. I have a cage, pouches, everything a little joey would need. But I have no idea where to find one and i’m scared to get one shipped to me because I know what could happen. Please help me out. I live on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois.
Thank you

Picking up Sugar Gliders?

I will be petsitting two sugar gliders soon and one needs to be medicated for a urinary tract infection. The owner taught me to pick them up by the scruff of the neck and gently pull them from the wire cage. I found it difficult to hold on to the scruff, and he slipped away multiple times. I know that this must be very very stressful to him even though it shouldn’t be hurting him, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a better way to get hold of a sugar glider so that I can squirt medication into his mouth?
