Eight sugar gliders and a honey straw

Well this doesn’t come out the same with bright light and removing the pouch from the cage, but you get the jist. When undisturbed, all eight sugar gliders go right for the honey straw. They bite it and lick it until nothing is left. It’s pretty cute with 16 hands tugging at the same thing. Perhaps I’ll try again and sacrifice quality for quantity. The jumper ruins it for everybody. It is interesting to notice that the older fat ones just go for the honey while the younger thinner ones are more interested in exploring or seeing what I am doing. Sometimes I think it is the young ones who are the colony sentinels, but most likely the older ones who come to fight.

Robb & Bry’s Sugar Gliders (flying squirrel honey possum)

We’ve had our pair of sg’s for about six weeks now and … we obviously adore them. They get up at 10:00 or 11:00 and we have an hour or so with them before we nod off. Their names are Bismarck (the adventurous one, named after the archipelago) and Wewak (the shy, younger one named after a town in New Guinea). I do not recommend these as pets for kids…they are a delicate little, late-night only and needy pet. From Robb McCaffree & Bryan Harrison.

Stitch the sugar glider loves Nowell the cat. No worries, my cats are accustomed to small animals and I would never put them together unsupervised. 3 of my gliders were abandoned by their parents so I let them crawl on the kitties when they were babies to have a furry body to nuzzle on. Now they LOVE the cats…they’d be sad if they didn’t get to love on them once in a while!

SUGAR GLIDERS

We traded our Boa and Leopard Gecko for these two. I am looking forward to having their companionship for a long while. We have already begun to bond, Nick named his BUTTERS. Mine still doesn’t have a name, if you have any suggestions let us know.

Sugar Glider Diet/Supplements?

I’ve been a glider owner for about a week now, and i want to know what the experienced glider owners use as far as calcium/protein supplement, daily diet, etc. I did a heck of a lot of research before i got her, so i think im doing alright (im feeding her apple, nuts, i let her lick honey off my finger as a treat, and mealworms so far)

What advice can a pro give me? Where do you buy your stuff?

Thanks!
Nick
