Hi I posted a question like this yesterday but am asking again. I have sugar gliders (they are not fish) but my answers were made as if they were. So I wanted to know if I can use rocks and gravel from my yard if its washed first or if I need to buy special stones from a pet shop for fish (again sugar gliders are not fish) I have a waterfall in the cage I have they will be drinking from.
dunno

none and you see pleanty of sharp jagged loose rocks in the wild and animals drink from it so im guessing put in what evs you want b-c i never heard of an animal other than a fishy dieing from getting pounded by a falling rock

I used rock and stone dug from my own yard. Hummingbirds drink from the falls, sparrows and finches and jays drink from the brook and my dog drinks from the pond. I treat the water just as I would a pool, I don’t have fish.

You have to wash gravel from the pet store as well, most of them have been coloured, and may still have tid bits of chipped paint in the bag…. so if you use your own washed gravel and rocks, I wouldn’t be using any soft porous rock, like slate or rock high in minerals (limestone)….. any good old clean stone should be good…

You can use any rock that is smooth and hasn’t been treated with any chemicals. Be sure to wash them with just water before setting them in their habitat. You can also use gravel from the pet store.
