HI there again Ihana… gliders would need a daily diet of 1/4 cup fresh/frozen vegetables and fruit with 1-2 meal worms each (live preferably) http://www.sugar-gliders.com/sugar-glider-diet.htm . Essentially 25% protein (worms/crickets) and 75% veggies/fruits. They will need calcium vitamin supplements http://www.repcal.com/supp.htm as gliders suffer from hind-leg paralysis. Many of the foods we feed them contain phosphorous which prohibits the absorption of calcium so this is why it’s imperitive to supplement with calcium. Glideraid should be offered several times a week. It is a nectar drink which is full of extra nutrients their fresh fruit/veggie diet doesn’t include: http://www.repcal.com/supp.htm . Quicko doesn’t provide enough of their nutritional requirements but can be offered as treats if they like them.

Hi there, I’ve had gliders for a few years now and when I first got them I thought I’d made a huge mistake – they’re so sensative and the diet they need sounds VERY complicated (see Seattles post above – dead on but confusing!).

It took me a few weeks of research but I finally got it down to a few diets. Basically there are alot of sugar glider diets out there so get other peoples input on what they feed, why, what other diets they’ve used – I like to browse http://www.sugarglider.net – they’ve always got tons of info there.

I feed a diet called BML http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugarglider/leadbeat.html – I find it easiest because the only thing I have to order is the vitamins. Everything else can be found at my grocery store, and it’s not terribly expensive and there’s no guesswork. They only get certain veggies and fruits to ensure the phosphorous absorption doesn’t get out of hand too, which makes me feel more secure.

I originally fed the Suncoast diet http://www.sugar-gliders.com/sugar-glider-diet.htm Which again seemed more complicated than it needed to be, but they did well on it and enjoyed eating it.

There are many other good diets out there, like Judy’s BML, HWP and more. I don’t have much first hand info on these, but again, if you check out http://www.sugarglider.net I’m sure you could fill in the blanks there real fast.

    HTH!
