  5. a snake, my fave is the cat though…..my second fave is a rat…you take them out when you want and put them back, they eat everything but chocolate(will kill them) and meat has to be fully cooked…but they make relationships with you….like a cat or dog….but there cageabe and there not like hamsters that just sit and dont have personalities

  7. well, why not a… suger glider. i don’t know how to care for them so you are on your own there. i would personally prefer a rabbit even if gilean or vecna died i would still want another one. they are very nice little animals and if you care for them right they are well behaved.

  8. it depends on what you’re looking for.

Personally, I would suggest a hamster, guinea pig, gerbil, or rat.

Are you going to be able to spend quality time with your new pet? If not, then I would suggest you get a hamster or gerbil because they are asleep during the day and don’t require nearly as much time as a guinea pig or rat. DO NOT get a guinea pig or rat if you aren’t devoted to spending time with them. They need interaction daily.

Is there adequate room for a large animal cage? If so, then a guinea pig or rabbit is the way to go. If not, then a hamster, gerbil, or possibly a rat would work well.

Will you be able to provide for more than one rodent? Many rodents such as guinea pigs, gerbils, and especially rats NEED a buddy. If you don’t have time or whatever the reason, then stick to a hamster (Syrian hamsters CAN’T live with other hamsters but Chinese and Rob hamsters do).

Do you have the money to spend on supplies and vet bills? Guinea pigs especially (sometimes rats, too) need to have an annual checkup at the vet. These check-ups run between $30- $100 depending on where you go. Rodents can get expensive…very fast. Guinea pigs need a lot of specific supplies that most other rodents do not (except rabbits). Some of these include: A well ventilated LARGE cage, timothy hay, specialized food, and larger houses. This may cause the expenses to go up because of all these extra supplies. If you are not willing to pay about $50 per week on a guinea pig, then don’t get one. If you are looking for a low matinence, cheap pet, then get a hamster or a gerbil, although rats are low matinence and not very expensive.

Are there little kids living in your home? If so then a gerbil or hamster wouldn’t make a good choice because they are awake at night and don’t like to be disturbed when children are awake, during the day. They will bite if they are disturbed during their nap. A rat or guinea pig doesn’t mind being held and would be easier to cuddle because they are larger and easier to handle.

Overall, any of these pets would make an ideal selection. Just remember that hamsters or gerbils would be the cheapest and easiest to take care of. Guinea pigs and rats live longer and develop strong bonds with their owners that gerbils and hamster don’t. Cleaning a guinea pig cage can be hard work, but is worth it. Remember that rats, gerbils, and guinea pigs need at least one buddy or they become anti-social. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision based on your lifestyle!

    Good Luck!

    Sugar Gliders are cute.

But i suggest, like other people have said, that you get a rodent. ginea pigs are cute and easy to take care of. chinillas, hamsters, gerbils, mice. maybe even a small bird. or a turtle.
