can you tell me what rescue shelter you got them from? ive done a week of research so far on these cuties and want one

its actually nt a shelter its more of a group that rescues them as friends. thats how glider rescues work generally. and you usually cant get a rescued glider unless you have owned before.
and i worry that you said you want one…you cant have just one they need to be in pairs to avoid suicidal tendencies, and self destructive behavior due to loneliness.

I know, i already did research and figured that out. I know they need to be paired and i know they need to be worked at real hard and you have to be patient for them to bond to you. I also know that my parents wont let me get any pet, which is why this situation sucks. I have proven myself responisble and told them things about sugar gliders but they still wont buy it… at least in two years im off to college.. i guess i still wont be able to then either though because of the dorms…

not really *frowns* occassionally if you startle them or when they first wake up they ALWAYS have to pee so let them go in their cage first lol

thank you! they are white faces so they are a bit more expensive, but a lot of good pet stores will do a deal that involves 2 sugar gliders and a cae for around 360-400 dollars (sorry I took so long to reply, busy summer lol)

i am getting a glidder soon. But im only getting one im eventualy getting another. Is it ok for them to be by themselves for a few months if you give them alot of attention ? And any tips? thanks

while I agree with magickal hummingbird in a way the rudeness is not needed. xbabywolf, it would be MUCH better for you to find a pair that are already together but if need be you can buy one with the intention to find a good partner within a week or two, and remember the glider has to pick its friend not you, I was lucky Link and Lynex are father and son and have been paired since birth

I asked three exotic vets and they said it’s not needed to have 2 HINT that’s y they don’t mind if u only buy 1 so ur rudeness really isn’t needed research a tad bit more on them or ask local vets on them or a specialist on sugar gliders although they do say ITS BETTER TO HAVE 2 but if u can’t get two the sugar glider will be just fine it will just need more time and he or she will be a ok so ooooooooo

a little bit more research would have revealed to you that sugar gliders as a species practice self mutilation and will “commit suicide” out of boredom/loneliness. they require around 8 hours of solid attention a day if you own 1 rather than 2. My exotic vet, my emergency vet the vet at the shelter i work for and my cousin molly who also an exotic vet strongly advise that you try to buy gliders in as pair rather than alone as 90% of people who say “I can play with them for 8 hours” don’t.
