“The Sugar Glider (Petaurus breviceps) is a small gliding possum native to eastern and northern mainland Australia, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago, and introduced to Tasmania.” Basically similar to a small flying squirrel!
DID YOU KNOW? “In the United States, keeping sugar gliders as pets is illegal in some jurisdictions, including California, Georgia, Hawaii, and Alaska; many other states require a permit.”
There is a lot of information out there if you look. I would suggest doing a lot of research before you get some. They do require some care and special handling. I would also suggest you adopt some rather than buy them. There’s lots of gliders that need homes. If you contact a rescue they may know of someone near you that’s looking for a new home for their pets…good luck!

Rather than buying a sugar glider from a pet store or a breeder, try http://www.petfinder.org. There are rescue gliders all over the country that need homes just as there are cats and dogs. When you get into the location, choose ‘small and furry’ for animal, ‘sugar glider’ for breed, select desired age group and put in your zip code. In my zip code there are 20 sugar gliders available tonight.
I just adopted a rescue dog and we are very happy with each other. She looks like the dog, Max, in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Lots of breed guessing!!

I would suggest NOT buying two males. Instead but two females, or a male, and a female, BUT! Make sure the male (or female) is fixed.
