Make sure you realize just how much care these little creatures take.
-You have to be prepared to cut up fresh fruit and by the necessary food items that will go with their rather delicate diets ( baby food, Supplements, Fresh Fruit, et cetera).
-It is best to have two sugar gliders because they do bond and in most cases are better off with a companion for when you are alseep and they want to play.
-Again they are Nocturnal which means…while you want to sleep they are just getting active and want attention. Sometimes you can even catch them ‘barking’ or making little noises.
-In a sense they are kind of like Ferrets in that they like to be stimulated and it takes a lot of handling and attention to really get them tamed and human friendly.
Either way…they take a lot of time and a lot of commitment. I would recommend checking in the ‘Pet’ Listing of craigslist because people want to give them away after realizing such a task it takes to take care of them. (Not to mention the space, they do well with big cages.) Or looking in your area to see if they have a Sugar Glider Rescue Organization you can adopt from.
sugar gliders aren’t very tame creatures, they require a lot of social time to be comfortable with humans, and they tend to be a bit bitey even if you have had them a long time. these pets are unique, but take A LOT OF TIME, MONEY, AND CARE. They are fragile and require constant attention. I have had dogs that don’t need as much as my glider does.

I know I’m going to sound like a wet blanket but…

You can try to find one in shelters around your area.
There are so many homeless sugar gliders that need to be adopted.
