does anyone have any hands on experience with sugar gliders?

do they ever get tame or stay wild as barn rats?

  1. my friend has had some that will bite your finger off, but my other friend has had some that just want to cuddle up in your pocket. so maybe it just depends on their personality. or maybe you can train them to like you more if you give them lots of attention and handle them often, but either way you’re looking at a pet that’s very high maintenance.

  2. My sister had two at various times. Both were aggressive around our family, but one of them bonded with a friend of hers and would never bite him. We ended up giving her to him and as far as I know the sugar glider was as tame as a pet mouse around him. But the other one was nasty and vicious its whole life. It hated being caged and I think the captivity was the source of its ire. My general philosophy from the whole experience was that sugar gliders are wild animals and wild animals don’t make the best pets.
