The hamster is a ground animal. A sugar glider is a possum, and need something to climb up to roost in, like tree branch.
Always assuming, of course, that you sugar glider is an Australian marsupial.

No, not only would they hurt or possibly kill each other, they also have very different needs. They need their own cages.

No, sugar gliders and hamsters are very different. (for one, hamsters are rodents and gliders arent.) They should never ever be housed in the same cage together. Gliders prey on small animals like that (ie the hamster in this case). The hamster will most likely end up as glider food. This question has me wondering if you even know what the reccomended cage size for sugar gliders is. Gliders are no where like hamsters. They need a nice roomy cage, preferably 36″ tall x 32″ x 21″ min. Gliders are also very social, unlike hamsters. Do you plan on getting another glider as a companion for the one you have now? Another thing, from the way you worded this question, i can tell you are a bit young. Heres a great glider community website. http://www.sugarglider.net Its a great glider message board, I’d suggest you look up a bit more about gliders.
