Sugar gliders definitely are. They need a little mate or friend or they will become quite lonely. I don’t know of hedgehogs being the same way, however.

If the animals are raised together as babies then they should be fine together and will enjoy the companionship. However, if the animal is a older, and when I say older I mean even a year old do not get them a companion. It will not benefit either animal and will only distress them. Don’t worry about the animal being lonely, if your worried about them being bored or something make sure that they have plenty of chew toys and hay. This will keep them preoccupied and they will be fine for the amount of time that your gone.

Hedgehogs are naturally solitary animals and do not need or desire companionship. Two hedgehogs kept together will have no desire to interact and, oftentimes, fight.
With plenty of attention and toys, hedgehogs make great solitary pets
Sugar gliders, on the other hand, need to be kept in pairs- a solitary sugar glider will not do well.
