Allergies to Sugar Gliders?

I’m very allergic also but I have cats and guinea pigs. I got tested and I get 2 little shots (just under the skin), once a month, and take a 5mg pill daily, I get along just fine with them now. I have to wear a mask to change the piggies bedding and the cat litter, but it’s all worth it to have my babies.

It’s hard to tell if you will have a reaction of not based on other animals. Each animal is different, even separate breeds within animals species are different.
Cats and dogs are mammals. Sugar Gliders are marsupials. Trying to compare them is like apples to oranges. Your best bet is to try to find a situation where you can be exposed to the sugar gliders before you decide to purchase or adopt one.
I have both cat and dog allergies, sometimes very severe, but I am not allergic to sugar gliders. However, when I have mine in our tent and they are climbing on my skin, they leave tiny scratches, almost like paper cuts, with their nails. These scratches tend to swell a little, similar to a cat scratch, but the swelling goes down as soon as I wash my skin. This is common with many people that own suger gliders. Their bacteria is foreign to human beings, thus the reaction.
